Creatine Kinase (CK)
Creatine Kinase is a specific enzyme primarily found in the skeletal muscles and heart, as well as in smaller amounts in the brain and other tissues. Upon cell injury in any of these tissues, Creatine Kinase may be released into the bloodstream. Therefore, it is a sensitive indicator of skeletal and heart muscle injury.
The Creatine Kinase (CK) blood test measures the level of Creatine Kinase in the blood.
